Humperdinck’s "Release Me" blocked The Beatles’ "Penny Lane" / "Strawberry Fields Forever" from the #1 spot for 6 weeks. This broke a four-year, 11-song streak of consecutive UK number-one hits that The Beatles previously held. He also achieved the rare feat of scoring two separate million-selling singles in the same year "Release Me" and "The Last Waltz" in 1967.
